Well the inside of both knees are covered in the physio tape, the physiotherapist thought that my right leg should have the support just in case while I'm recovering. She gave me a few exercises to do, and she did some ultrasound as well to help with the healing process.
I have to stay off the ice, do only a few stairs at a time, and try not to stand still too long (bad conformation on my part causes me to lock my knees which will not help the current injury)
But I can ride! I have to take it easy and not to do too much too soon but she also thinks some barn time wont hurt me if I don't go crazy.

Still no barn
My knee is feeling better though. I see the physiotherapist tomorrow (soonest I could get in to the place I wanted) and hopefully they will have good news on recovery times. Its still a little unsteady on stairs and uneven ground, but I'm almost walking normally on the flat ground in the house and at home.
My Chiropractor was very upset with me today because I was at the barn all weekend and he thought I should have stayed home and recovered then. Basically he told me I took the short term gain against the long term pain.

On the ground...again
So I thought I was good and the knee was fine but it locked again this morning and when it unlocked all I could hear was grinding! So off to the hospital I went and after poking and prodding, and twisting (yikes!) I got a diagnoses. Turns out I have either strained or pulled my lateral collateral ligament. Treatment is rest and ice for 2 weeks. :( I also have to go to physio and have treatment done (from Google it looks like mostly lazer and ultrasound)
So I'm off Oscar for at least a week, and walking with a cane for the same amount of time. But I'll know more when I see a physiotherapist hopefully Monday or Tuesday.
In Lucy news I did bring her in on Saturday to do some showmanship work with her, (Even at that point I knew my knee wasn't good enough to ride) She was very good but a little hyped up because she left all of her friends outside. She also got wormed and got a clip job. This morning when I went to go feed (C and D had to go to the states, and my knee wasn't too bad this AM) Lucy was stuck in the round bale feeder (made from wood). We tried to encourage her to jump out on her own, after all she did get in by her self! But finally I went in and looped a rope around her neck and was able to lead her out. Shes very trusing of me, I hope that carries foreword into our under saddle work.

Ice packs on my A$$
Well more like my hip. I slipped on some ice earlier this week and twisted my back a bunch. At first I thought it was my knee, as it swelled a little. But I went to the Chiropractor today and he found the spot on my hip that lifted me off the table. So after several ajustments and ice on and off my hip and knee all day the swelling has gone down significantly so I'm on the mend.
Barn has been quiet this week because of all the snow we've had this week, Oscar's mom went back to school yesterday so I hope to have a bit of a ride tomorrow on him and hopefully at least brush Lucy. It should be a good weekend if my butt ever unfreezes.

Its offical!
Lucy becomes my Part Time Pony (PTP) at the end of March! We've gotten the details figured out this week so she'll be coming into the show barn later this month and getting shoes on for the first time in 3 years! Shes had her feet trimmed but as she's been a pasture pony for way too long, so we're giving her a month to get back into the show barn routine, and we'll start lunging her as well.
She's also getting breed to Rusty, the goodbar stud, in April, so this will help us figure out her heat cycles too.

Situation normal
It was a really nice day, and very warm at the barn. Oscars Mom is home so I didn't get to ride today, I did ride on Thursday. He was so much better than Monday, but I was also feeling much better so that also helped I was planning to do showmanship with Lucy today but got distracted.
C and I have gone over my show wardrobe and decided that I need new chaps, but we can get away with doing minor alterations to my other 2 good jackets to make them a little more current without having to buy new. I also got a black button down oxford shirt from my parents for Christmas which will be nice to show in for horsemanship. I still need to be on the lookout for a new saddle blanket or two but that is much easier than looking for new shirts AND new pads.

Exciting news
Well its just about settled. Come late March I'll be giving up my lease on Oscar (his mom comes back in April) and starting a lease on Lucy!
It means that I'll get to show some this summer and it will be fun teaching her how to do trail and showmanship. I'm excited because it will mean that I don't have to 'share' anymore, although Oscar's mom wasn't around much this winter.
I did get out to ride on Monday on Oscar but I still wasn't feeling 100% and he could tell. We ended up just going around a bunch of times and trotting some frustration out. I had to be off all my antiinflamitorys for the weekend (just in case, after my scope) and I held off on taking my immunosuppressants for a couple of days too. I'm almost back to normal so I'll be getting back into the saddle tomorrow.
