C was able to take a few minutes last night and did some video. I learned a couple of things,
1) too baggy dark sweater makes me look huge up top!
2) Our jog is awesome
3) I'm perching a bit at the lope, not a whole bunch but in getting me out of the habit of leaning too far back I've gone a bit too far in the other direction. (also its a bit of a defensive move to protect my back)
4) Because of the perching I'm not rocking back in my seat enough to push her off the hind end. (which is why you only see one direction of a lope)
5) I need to work on my lope departs and practice setting her up better (as witnessed in the jog video to the right!)
Lucy is short, but the horse that is in there with us is a hair under 17 hands.

New Video of Lucas
Of Lucas and Dean
He looks so good when Dean rides him. He was super lazy as well. Oh well, hopefully this will attract a new home for him. I went out and helped D with chores this am (C is judging a show) and then D rode him for me. I managed to get my car clean this weekend as well. Chilly had the week off because she is growing so much (she's almost level this weekend but was an inch and a bit lower in the withers last week). Lucy is getting her feet done next week and I'm going to try riding her, there is a chance I could show her at the end of August if I can get both of us fit enough (and my hips can handle it).

Videos of Lucas
So I forgot my helmet at home last night but one of the barn kids who loves Lucas was hanging around so I asked her if she wanted to ride him. She was really excited, she's only ridden him (more than just walking him out) once before so she was really excited that she got to canter on him for the first time.
He was a really good boy and it makes me happy to see how well he's going. Maybe I've been concerned over nothing! He looks like hes ready to go in a hus class now!
I'll post a video of Lauren on her horse Tanker who she rode after Lucas. Tanker had most of the winter off (she's just 4) so she's still building up her conditioning.

Well crap.
So I went out to the barn to ride on Thursday and it didn't go exactly as planned. Lucas was hyped up due to the storm moving in. By the time I got him lunged and got on it had started snowing which meant that I needed to get off and put him away so I could get home before it really got to snowing. I only managed to do some walking and side passing before I got off and headed home. Even so it was a rough drive home in a tone of snow.
Today I went out and finished the barn chores (C and D had a meeting a few hours away that they had to go to). Because I was alone at the barn I decided lunge Lucas for a bit, then let him play in the indoor. He had a blast! The weather hasnt been good for them to have a good run outside so it gave him a chance to blow off some steam.
I also went and tried every western saddle we have in the barn on Lucas (well, every different brand we have as we do have a couple of the same type of saddle). Out of 5 saddles the only two the fit were the Penning saddle that I rode Lucy in (big horn), and one of the kids 15" billy cook barrel saddle. NONE of the pleasure saddles really fit him so I'm going to have C have a look at them tomorrow and see if I can ride in the penning saddle for a while. I know of a barrel saddle like the kids for sale but the person who owns it isnt answering back....
Anyways for now, here is a cute video of Lucas and his LOVE Tanker. And this is the 'omg your back!' ritual that goes on every time they are seperated!

Video!
This is the better video, we've come a long way in a year and 1/2. He almost tossed me today for no reason what so ever (he wanted to test out my helmet?) but the ride was good before and after that.
