I guess I needed that rant yesterday, as Im not feeling so emotionaly down today. Just feels like I start figuring out one health issue and another pops up. Oh well, here is somthing fun for today:

Go read it then come back
Go on, go!
Anyone who has grown up in rural Canada or America has often improvised on the toys they play with when they are young. I totally agree with everything in that last post, I once took every box my mom had and made stalls, trailers and fences for all of my Grand Champion Pony toys. http://www.angelfire.com/on/raventyde/gchistory.html I made blankets for them, shipping wraps, and halters out of hair elastics. All of my horses had several blankets depending on what 'temperature' it was (my blanket fetish started early!!)
The truth to the story is, that although we didn't live on a farm my dad was an AI Technician...
Basically he drove around to all the farms with a nitrogen tank in the car full of semen for the local farms and inseminated the cattle.
My mom has told me that one of the first pictures I drew in primary class (around 5 years old) was on a "what does your dad do" day.... I drew my dad with his arm up the cow! And very casually told my teacher that that was what my dad did to help make the cows have babies! Best part was that my Mom was teaching in the same school and had to explain my drawings to all of the teachers at lunch!
In grade 4 (7-8 years old) we were asked to do a speech on a Nova Scotia business. I did it on NSAB (and no not the national snaffle bit association) http://www.nsab.ca/ well it was a local business, and it doubled as my 4-H speech! His job did get me some good perks. I got to show cattle for one of the top Jersey producers in Canada, as well as a top Ayrshire breeder as well. You want to learn showmanship? Show a cow, there is nothing better then trying to keep a straight face as a yearling calf tries to mow you down!
I went to the barn for like 15 minutes tonight and gave Lucas a good brush as he was eating supper. Tried on the new barn jackets as well, they should be done in a couple of weeks, Ill post pictures when they are done. We are getting some serious snow tonight so cross your fingers we don't get the entire 50cm that they are predicting!

Boy, my Barbie (and Midge and Francie and Skipper) just hung around the house, looking gorgeous while entertaining. :-) My mother used to KNIT dresses and sweaters for Barbie! Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Hope you survived the snow!
