Im home now, 2:30-7:30 in the er, and I had to beg for a chest x-ray. I love my Canadian health care, but days like this I wouldn't mind slipping someone $50 to get out of there faster!
So I have a puffer, and I have to call my family Dr. and see what he says when my 2nd round of antibiotics is over on Wednesday. Both the family Dr, and the RA doc wanted x-rays and no matter what nurse I told we had to wait for the doctor to say yes (after he saw me) I get why they had to, but it would have saved everyone a bunch of time.
The Dr at the ER put me off work for 5 days, but I will have to go in Wednesday for at least part of the day to finish my billing for month end. Not having anyone know how to do your job is great for job security but sucky for when you are sick (and its a multi-million dollar client). Lucas is going to have a neglectful mother this week. We tried a kicking chain on him last night as he was banging up his hocks (hes in due to the horrible weather and he only kicks when he cannot go out).

I didn't know anyone still used kicking chains - they can badly frighten the horse and result in serious injuries to the legs - I'd recommend against using them and distract him with some hay if he's stuck inside, or see if he can get some turnout.
This is a modified one, its a fuzzy band around his leg with a snap and about 10 links of a small dog chain collor. It really only makes noise, and will give him a small tap if he starts to kick.
That sounds much better than the chains I used to see - you're right the noise may help. One other thought - you may wish to check into ulcers - kicking is sometimes but not always due to this, particularly if it occurs before or just after feeding time.
We are looking into that, he is very predictable when he is going to kick. He usualy only does it when he has hind shoes on (like now) and when he doesnt get to go outside on a regular basis (like now when the weather is too bad for him to go out every day for the 5-7 hours like normal) Previous owners/trainers hobbled him all the time he was in his stall. We will not be doing that!!! We just dont want him to hurt himself.
