Somthing to think about, and Stuff that I could use some help on.
So Lucas is officially for sale again. As much as I love him, I know its the best thing for both of us. Riding him has become too painful for me to do more often than once a week (I need a day free from work so I can recover and sleep). He can be a bit of a pain in the a$$ when you ride him, but its mainly the fact that hes 16.3 hh and has a stride to match that's killing my back, hips and knees. He's also board, and tired of having to do the same things over and over. Seeing the enthusiasm on his face when the kids ride him and do different things makes me realize that he deserves to keep being ridden, shown and used to his full potential. Sure I could keep him and just show him in halter and showmanship but I really think he wants to do more.
D and C as well as my friends are completely behind me on this and all of them are trying to help me find the best home possible for him. It will be a sad day when he does leave the farm, but hopefully it will be so he can go to an even better home.
Meanwhile I don't know what I want to do. Do I want to ride? Could I handle riding a 'true' western pleasure horse on a regular basis? Do I want to part lease a horse? Do I want to find a young horse to lungeline and show halter again? I'm not sure if I want to go into horse ownership again right away, and if I don't own the horse and something happens with my health I would have the option of returning the horse to the owners if I leased something. C and D and my friends think that I should look long and hard but I should buy again (at least that's what they are saying to my face!). Any thoughts?

He's a nice horse - he'll find a good new home.
But what do you love doing - what makes you look forward to your day, and what do you lose yourself in? Focus on that, and find a way to enjoy it - doesn't mean you have to own a horse - there may be other ways to do it, but think about what you really enjoy.
Sounds like this is the best thing for you and Lucas. I'm sure you'll find him a fabulous home, and maybe it can be with a youth rider. He seemed happy in those videos you posted of the younger kids riding. :)
I think your next move will become clear once Lucas is in his new home and you've had time to relax and really think things over. Maybe the perfect horse will find you!
Sounds like it's a good choice to sell Lucas and move on to a horse that is more suiting to your needs!
I bet you wouldn't have as much trouble riding a really easy pleasure horse for the western events, but is that what you want to do?
